A morbidly obese Ohio man has died after police found him fused to a chair he had not moved from in two years and were forced to cut a hole in the wall of his house just to get him out, WTOV-TV reported Wednesday.
The unnamed 43-year-old man’s roommates called police who found him unconscious.
He was taken to Wheeling Hospital in nearby West Virginia, where he later died. read the rest…

A hospital spokesman would not comment on the man’s death.
A hospital spokesman wouldn’t comment? Why not? Why not have the hospital’s RD comment? Why not have somone comment on this? I guess I will! First, I have a question for the Bellaire OH police; my question is, WHY weren’t abuse or neglect charges filed against this man’s girlfriend or roommate? I called and tried to speak with Chief Kovalyk and as of yet he hasn’t returned my call. Will update with his comment as soon as I get one.
It is a crime! If this had happened to a child, elderly or animal it would be prosecuted…but contributing to the death of a FAT person is legal? Not in my mind!
If this man died because someone gave him heroin, there would be charges filed, I think a national conversation about the ramifications of contributing to a morbid obesity CAUSED premature death is in order!
Bill OReilly, where are YOU on this one? Why no debate on this issue? Bill, are you a pin head… or patriot on this one? Will debate this any where, any time with anyone and I KNOW I will win this argument! It is nothing less than assisted suicide, could be murder…who gets his life insurance money? girlfriend or room mate have a financial gain if he died? He couldn’t get his own food so why not feed him a healthful or lower calorie diet that would have eventually enabled him to get up out of the chair rather than die there!
Think about it folks…we have sent millions if not billions to Japan in aide to help our neighbors affected by tragedy not of their own making but what about a poor fat guy with his butt stuck to a chair? Because it smells so bad we cover him with a blanket and ignore him while feeding him enough food to ensure he never leaves that chair? Because he did it to himself we look the other way and ignore it for two years while those closest to him do NOTHING (in fairness, nothing that we know of, not all facts are known yet!) to get him proper nutrition, clean him up or trim him down? Because it’s not OUR problem, we ignore it? I don’t believe his tragedy was completely of his own making and therefore someone should have helped and those who helped him, thus contributing to his premature death should suffer the consequences of such!
Bellaire Ohioans, it’s ALL of you’alls problem! Your tax dollars were spent cutting a hole in the wall big enough to move him through, a few people were paid to carry him to transport, etc! Mr. Obama, does HE have health insurance coverage because it’s unlikely he worked or could pay for high premiums. And the rest of us? Situations like this are happening all around the country every day and the toll on the economy is adding up; workman’s comp claims when someone is injured caring for someone so overweight, disability payments (bet he was getting disability checks every day he was stuck in that chair!) I am NOT OK with that!
He was likely taking disability dollars to enable this in many ways, self inflicted condition–yes, after he couldn’t rise out of the chair he had some help in staying there, make no mistake about it, he added to his plight BUT with that said, it is NOT his fault. When McDonalds can serve up 1400 calories for $1.99, we have many fingers to point the blame at. I guarantee he drank soft drinks and ate fast food, large portions of whatever he ate and watched over 4 hours of TV a day for YEARS leading up to this…..and those are the top 4 most common vices that are causing obesity in the world! BUST your vices before they bust YOU!
We are NOT at 34% morbidly obese as a society because we are deficient of a particular diet or chemically credit dietpill!
We are overweight because we have unhealthy lifestyles brought about by our modern world of ease and comfort and cheap unhealthy foods w/ little to no nutritional value and NO fiber!
I KNOW how to end this for people like this man, like myself and maybe like you… www.PGX.com for my entire 26-week program, totally FREE! NO ploy to get your credit card and start charging you for it in a week, this is real help and it really is free! NO strings attached!
