Sometimes I really think that the people doling out weight loss advice think we, the collective overweight and obese, are idiots. Check out this titillating headline “7 Tricks to Stay Thin” from Fox News (where I get most of my news, so I am also being fair and impartial in bashing them about this!)

FIRST off, over 70% of Americans need to GET thin before they can “STAY” thin! And going about it is a lot more complicated than 7 odd ideas.

    1. Breakfast; YES, Fox is 100% correct when saying we need to eat breakfast, BUT why show a picture with French Toast, wad of butter, syrup, eggs and bacon? THAT is NOT the breakfast of thin nor healthy people! A much better option? Egg white omlet, real oatmeal or for those on the run and “no time” for breakfast, try my daily staple; a PGX Slim Styles shake. 20 grams of protein, and clinically proven to help you eat less, feel full faster and longer ANDsupports healthyblood sugar levels. French toast, butter, etc can’t even dream of doing that!

    2. Advice that suggests you stay away from some of the best most fiber filled foods on Earth is just plain stupid. Don’t eat your brocolli, onions, pears? Moronic advice, at best. Gas? Well folks, fiber does that to you but you don’t avoid it to be healthier, you bring it on and more of it! Your body will get used to it! Early man used to consume up to 100 grams or more of fiber a day, by comparision we modern smarter men are lucky to get 10 grams a day! Not to sound like a commercial but PGX provides the body with more soluable fiber than anything found on Earth–and it’s all natural, safe, effective and plant based Learn more about PGX. (It’s worth looking into!)

    3. Eat spicy foods. OK, #2 said don’t eat things that give you gas and make you bloat, but spicy foods aren’t going to do that? AND the image in #2 had peppers in it for the “foods to avoid” slide, yet this says to eat peppers. Confused yet?

    4. Stay away from soft drinks! YES! Finally something we can agree on! The Vice Busting Diet Plan(endorsed by Drs Mehmet C. Oz and David L. Katz) points the finger, yes THE finger, at Coke, Pepsi, etc as THE cause for obesity and overweight in the World. Despite the ABA’s (American Beverage Association) lie under oath at the NYState Senate hearings about the soda tax that “total abstainence from soft drinks would have zero impact on public health”, drinking soft drinks, regular or diet is the WORST thing that a person can do to their bodies–wether you want to lose weight or just live healthfully. FYI, the ABA is a fully funded lobby arm of the soft drink industry, they don’t have our backs!

    5. Avoid processed foods…like deli meats and hot dogs? Well, a roast chicken sandwich is MUCH better for the overweight person than say….McDonalds? Come one Fox, grow a spine and call it what it is! Avoid FAST FOOD like McDonalds if you want to get and stay thin! I was 5 minutes from going live on air for a Chicago Fox affiliate morning news program last year when suddenly the producer came over frantically waving her arms and yelling “STOP!”. You see, in my bag of “props” that I bring with me to show the unhealthy foods that people are consuming and the dangers of them in regards to obesity and overweight, I carry around a McDonalds Happy Meal. She was adamant that I could NOT show the McDonalds bag, logo or mention McDonalds by name as a contributor to the Obesity pandemic killing over 300,000 a year. (So much for fair andbalanced reporting of the NEWS!) Why? you may be asking was I censored and NOT allowed to tell the TRUTH on a NEWS program? Because McDonalds sponsors the show. They acutally have remote reporters out at McDonalds while reporting the morning news. It boils down to money! McDonalds has a lot of it and they use it well, one could construe that they are buying the news programs off, censoring people like me who want to point THE finger at them and tell the truth.

    6. Agreed.Eat more apples, other fruits, celery and other veggies… morethan cheese and peanut butter.

    7. Agreed!
