There is one sure way to keep yourself moving toward a life of health and
fitness: setting small achievable goals. Let’s call these smaller
goals challenges to your ultimate goal of reaching the level of health you
desire. By calling them “CHALLENGES” it puts your attention
on bringing out your potential, rather than making it a job.
Let’s say it brings out the playful qualities
we once had as children. Remember a time when a childhood
friend may have said something like: “I bet
you can’t (__fill in the blank___):” maybe
jump rope a 100 times in a row, or whatever you did
as a kid. At that time, you were being challenged!
And you wanted to prove to your friends, and more
importantly yourself that yes you could do it! So
let’s take the same approach to bring out that
fun “child-like” emotion that we had toward
accomplishing our goals today!
Over the years I have hosted a 3-month challenge that
provided you a new or fresh perspective on the road of
health. I have found these challenges to be helpful because
we all need “challenges” in our lives to keep us
motivated. While we desire to lose weight and be more fit,
our breakdowns in our efforts seems to come from looking at
the peak of the mountain and thinking about the time and
difficulty to reach the peak. Every great accomplishment takes
time and consistency.
You know when you’re moving toward the peak
(your goals) by the actions you are taking. And really,
that’s the only thing you can control today.
So let’s breakdown your goals (weight-loss in
particular) into smaller “challenges” on
a daily and a weekly basis. These are suggested ones
that you may have seen or done in some form in one
of my programs.
As you view this, you will understand their importance
in your daily life!
